In Matthew 4:4 Jesus said that “Man does not live on bread
alone, but on every word that comes from the word of God”. In the Lord’s Prayer when we pray “give us
this day our daily bread” we are asking for spiritual food as well as for the
provision of our physical nourishment.
God wants us to feed on His word.
His word is life to our mind, body, and soul. It is called the Living Word. Hebrews 4:12
says, “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged
sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow,
and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart”.
Jeremiah writes in chapter 15, verse 16, “when your words
came, I ate them; they were my joy and my hearts delight”. I want to feed on God’s word. I want to learn His words so they will come
to my memory when I need Him to speak to me.
God wants us to hide His words in our hearts (Psalm 119:11). Romans 10:17 says that Faith comes by hearing
and hearing by the word of God. My faith
grows as I feed on the Word of God.
